The Kinderberry Hill STEAM Wonder Lab offers rich opportunities for exploration, discovery, and fun through messy and inventive play. Learning takes place through hands-on science exploration for toddlers and infants, as well as more challenging scientific explorations for preschool and pre-kindergarten STEAM learning.
STEAM Projects for At-Home Learning
Here are a few of our favorite early learning STEAM projects to try at home:
- Light Exploration: Offer infants and toddlers flashlights to shine around the house. Notice how light changes with distance. Notice shadows that might be created. Talk about how colors look in the light and the dark. Most importantly, let them hold the flashlight, move the flashlight and explore!
- Backyard Investigation: With your preschooler, go outside and search for wildlife in your own backyard. This might be squirrels in a tree, ants on your front sidewalk or even just a spiderweb on your balcony. Observe what the creatures are doing. What is their home like? Who do they live with? What do they eat? What is their work or play each day? Notice patterns in nature and sketch what you see. Make predictions, then find books to research answers.
