STEM Sandbox

If you are lucky enough to have a sandbox in your backyard, think about turning it into a STEM-rich play space. Add PVC pipes and fittings, plastic drain tile tubes, short wood planks, short plastic gutters, ice cream buckets, coffee cans, watering cans or even a garden hose, and you child will be able to engineer their own sandbox fun all summer. For younger children, add cups and bowls or small buckets of water to enjoy dumping and mixing. Enjoy watching your child problem solve and experiment with just a few additions and a little water.
